Controls Operations Manager
Position Purpose
As part of the Varitec Controls and Service Solutions LLC team, expectations are that you will be a team player that puts the companies’ internal and external customers first. This position will be overseeing our operations workforce for our control systems while providing top-tier customer service for all internal and external customers. In order to perform your tasks, you will utilize your knowledge of HVAC Systems, control devices, computer operations, electronics, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, direct digital controls, airflow, hydronic systems, IT networking, analytics and building controls technologies.
Essential Functions
- Strategy development with Operations Leadership Team capture and retain market share.
- Represent the company by serving as our direct customer contact, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Maintain customer satisfaction by listening to concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers on resolutions.
- Mentor PMs and Construction Manager with the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Mentor and develop operations team to further their knowledge of our industry.
- Create and maintain development plans to keep our workforce safe and trained to execute projects.
- Perform regular checks on the work quality of the Operations team and act when quality or knowledge is lacking.
- Reviewing proposals and associated costs to ensure accuracy and ability of the operations team to deliver our solutions.
- Forecasting revenue as needed for business planning.
- Conduct regular 1-1 meetings with all direct reports.
- Conduct performance evaluations, set goals, and provide regular feedback and coaching to team members to foster their professional growth and development.
- Stay current on all product lines and software solutions used by the company.
- Manage resource allocation, staffing, and capacity planning to ensure efficient utilization of operations resources.
- Continuously evaluate and improve processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance productivity, quality, and innovation.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration, resolve design challenges, and manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Support the sales team by assisting with quote preparation and proposals.
- Follow and manage processes and procedures in a timely manner; Example: Email, Teams, Trello, Bidtracer, Procore, Project Folder Management, labor logs and personal expense submission.
Competency and Experience
- Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in the construction industry.
- Maintain a satisfactory driving record which, per VCSS’s vehicle policy, allows the individual to drive a company vehicle.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret written instructions and construction project documents as they apply to aforementioned duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to make judgments after analysis of available information and respond with a timely decision.
- Ability to speak articulately one-on-one or to small groups.
- Ability to compose articulate and grammatically correct written communication.
- Ability to perform under difficult conditions, such as simultaneous deadlines.
Education and Certification
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Other technical experience such as military, on the job training programs, etc. may meet this requirement as determined by local management.
- Must have or be willing to obtain OSHA safety training, along with managing a safe workforce and safety policies.
