Air Distribution Project Manager - Albuquerque
Purpose of this position
The purpose of this position is to service customers and contribute to the profitable results of the Sales Team by providing accurate and timely submittals, order releases, and project coordination.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as a representative of Varitec, displaying courtesy, tact, professionalism and discretion in all interactions with fellow employees and the company’s clientele. Duties include but are not limited to:
- While working closely with the outside sales staff, prepare timely and accurate submittals for all Fan and Air Distribution Products from onscreen takeoff programs or manually with hard documents.
- Release orders to various manufacturers in timely manner to meet the customer’s needs and project requirements.
- Maintain and improve project profitability through the application of good project management techniques and skill development.
- Participate in project coordination meetings where critical milestones are established and commitments made to customers are communicated to the project team.
- Be able to determine equal products from Varitec’s manufacturers and the competition.
- Communicate to management when pricing is not in line with market price and local product knowledge.
- Communicate well with the manufacturers Varitec represents and the customers we have earned.
- Prioritize your workload to best serve our clients
- Have a thorough working knowledge of required products.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Stay up to date and familiar with factory personnel, product, model numbers, descriptions, etc.
- Participate in training activities
- Provide timely, accurate and courteous service to customers and co-workers requests
- Participate in departmental meetings and the refinement of existing systems
- Provide insight, suggestions and enhancements to all current responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have any direct supervisor responsibilities of other employees.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma is required, some college preferred.
- Mechanical Aptitude
- Previous Sheet Metal HVAC takeoff or installation experience is a positive.
- Computer skills and proficiency with manufactures’ software programs, takeoff software, Outlook, Word and Excel is required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction documents including drawings and specifications.
- Excellent organization skills, accuracy, dependable work habits and good communication skills.
- Ability to compose articulate, grammatically correct, and effective written communication.
- Speak articulately one-on-one or to small and medium sized groups.

Working Conditions and Environment
- Normal office hours are from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, all employees in sales and sales support functions are expected to have a “get the job done” mentality. This will involve additional time as necessary to insure that project and customer deadlines are met as required. It can be expected that most weeks will require more than 40 work hours.
- There may be occasional traveling requirements associated with this position, to various locations for factory training. Most of these will involve overnight stays, and generally last anywhere from 1 to 2 days.
